I have a rental house that is on a well system. A month or so ago a plumber replaced the hot water tank and repaced the water spout in the tub. Since then the tenants complain that the water lines spit and sputter whenever the water is turned on. What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it. The plumber says that it couldn’t have anything to do with his work and that air must be getting in the system through a pin hole or at the well pump or the small pump that get the water through the chlorination tank. The house is NOT heated by hot water.

Almost certainly air has gotten into the hot water system and what the tennants are experiencing is the air being displaced as it is being pushed out throught the open tap/faucet.
