I’m replacing my countertops and sink. Do I need the air gap, or can I eliminate it and route the dishwasher hose up high under the countertop before it connects to the disposal?
1- Check Your local code and 2- Inside most of the newer dishwashers there is a built in air gap as the manufacturers KNOW folks really are basically lazy and wont install one even if their heath depends on it. Also a lot of folks hate seeing an air gap fitting thorough their counter top
