We’ve just noticed that our 3 year old water heater seems to be leaking from the top. There are several spots where water has been dripping down the side of the water heater and there is alot of rust and corrosion in these areas. We haven’t noticed any problems with our supply of hot water.

Is this be a problem that could be repaired? Or are we better off replacing the unit?

Regardless of the make or model, at three years old it will be under warranty. Most plumbers are able to process it under warranty. You will have to pay for the labor of installing it, and there could be some fees and/or time involved in obtaining the replacement which you would also have to pay.
