      How can I tell the age of different hot water heaters from the serial Numbers.

      Best suggestion I can give ya is to contact all the manufacurers and ask them how they set out the man date in their numbers – down here we have about three different ways they do it so best chance is to email the manufacturers.

      Most heating and cooling equipment puts the manufacturing year in the third and fourth digits of the serial #, Some however use the first two or the last two and bradford and white dosn’t put any at all (I just use the ansi. date for them – If the ansi. date is 1987 the the age is between 1987 and 1992 (ansi. updates their codes every five years) and the ansi. date is a good way to cross check a serial # date…
