I will be remodeling my bathroom soon and I was planning to change the water pipes in the wall from PVC to Copper. Since we bought this house we have been having some problems with leaks (in the joints of the pipes). All the water pipe in the house are PVC and the house is only 10 yrs. old.
For hard water coming from public utility, What will be better copper or pvc?
        Thanks, Ali

I would use copper myself if you can solder.

CPVC is okay but I have found that copper is a lot better to use CPVC is for people who can’t solder I agree with these guys and see what the inspector says CPVC is cheaper but not as good quality and leaks a lot more.

              Hi,

PVC was leaching into the water, that aspect was cured many years ago. I’m not sure if it’s ageing or chlorinates that cause it to turn brittle. Obviously the industry is pretty tight-lipped about this and I’ve been out of the ‘inside’ loop for a few years.
