I recently moved into a house that has an old cesspool in the back yard. Sometimes – after it rains – the inside of the house smells like cesspool – and recently, after a party with many people in the house, the outsdie and the inside smelled awful. The next day the smell was totally gone. Thi s awful smell seems to go as fast as it comes – Ive had a cesspool guy crawl under the crawl space and he saw nothing – Im at my wits end – can anybody give me a clue as to what’s going on? Or anybody want to buy a house???? thanks so much – Dottie W

There is an open pipe, a cracked pipe or a dried up trap that is allowing this smell.
I would smoke test your plumbing system to determine the source of the smell.

Maybe try installing a House trap in line going to cesspool.
