        Hi,

I have an old wall mounted sink in a bathroom that I’m looking to replace with a pedestal sink. My question is with the drain pipe serving the existing sink. It appears to be 1 1/4″ chrome that is soldered/welded into a connector right at the wall’s edge. I’m unsure of what the piping is behind the wall.

What is the best way to hook into the existing waste pipe? Can I simply cut the pipe off and use a coupler? What is the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for the replies!

It depends on your code some say solder joint some say compression joint, what ever you use you better get a roughin for pedestal Lav. before you start to tear things apart. They have to be roughin right are it wont work.

Use a grey fernco 11/4″ to tie back into if not inspected.
