Twice in the last month we have noticed a boiled egg odor (not rotten egg) in an area of our home near the utility room. We live in middle Tennessee and are on a septic tank but have water from the utility company. We have a gas water heater. Today the odor followed a heavy rain. Don’t remember if the first time was after a rain or not. Thanks for any help.

Did you call Gas co. to check for leaks. Could be septic tank smell too from your roof vent.

If the gases are being pulled inside by your roof vetns, a charcoal activated vent pipe filter would solve your problem. On the web search engines type in septic gases, or septic odor.
