what is the best way to break off an old broken cast iron closet flange?I was advised to replace it with a compression flange is this good advise? Thanks for help

For you it would be easy to take el. drill and drill out the lead joint all around until it is loose then take it off.Then put on a new one, never saw the one you are talking about.
