I have exposed sewer line in my basement. This is clay pipe originally installed when the house was built 50 years ago. There is some leakage along the side of pipe, not at the joint. I’ve tried various types of patching such as silicone, concrete, roof tar, but nothing prevents seepage from coming through. Is there any patching available that will adhere to pipe and harden enough to prevent the acidic leakage?

          Bob,
Replace the pipe with cast iron.
There is nothing I know of that will give you peace of mind to backfill and concrete the hole without replacing the line.
Hey, it will be good for another 50 years.
          Good Luck,
          Bill
