I have an old (1910)house, with an upstairs bathroom. This morning while draining the tub, it started dripping through the floor to the ceiling and livingroom below. I removed several ceiling tiles but there is another layer of material and am not able to see the pipes. It is an old clawfoot tub, should I cut sections away from the floor around the drain pipe?? I am just kind of at a loss of where to start and what to look for.
        Thanks PJK

Assuming you have already checked to see that it isn’t in the drain assembly you can see under the tub, then the first step is to expose the trap and see where the break is, then make repair decisions relative to your situation, good luck.
