I have a reliance 501 heater which was installed new about 3 or 4 years ago. It does not
seem to make hot water the way it should from the very start. It puts out hot water ok, at first, but runs
out within about 10 minutes or so when showering. I just heard on the news this morning that many companies
have a recall out on heaters made between 1993 and 1996 due to a problem with the cold water inlet tube
breaking and the heater not operating properly. If reliance is one of the companies, could you let me know
and what is needed to fix it. -
You are more likely to have a burned out lower element than you are to have a bad inlet tube. Check it out and replace it if it has gone bad.
