Working on the sump pump bucket to keep it from floating up and causing pump to lay on its side. Put cement in bottom of bucket. Seems to have stabilized and worked. However now the pump is not working. I had to jiggle the pump after the float had clicked, and I could start the pump. Now it does not engage after float reached top and clicks. Any suggestions?

If it is raising up from under ground water under this sump, punch some holes in it to alleviate the pressure.

If you just want ballast GET rid of the porous cement and buy some lead ingots (called pigs in the trade) The lead will not rot and a little goes along way as far as weighting goes. Most lead ingots are 5 pounds each 40 pounds to strip. Have fun
