I have reset and lit the pilot several times, depressing the red reset button for one minute, as the instructions say. however, when i release the reset button, the pilot goes out. any suggestions for what i can do until i can get someone out here monday? (It’s cold!) Thank you!

What you need is the pilot light burner claned out and a new thermocouple fitted to hold in the current from the flame when you release the button. Unfortunately there is no safe way to override the controls to allow it to run until a serviceperson arrives.
Only tip I can give ya is go to bed early and read a book in the warm or some other activity that will keep ya warm till the man arrives to fix it.
