I have a 9 year old RuudGlas Pacemaker 40 gallon gas water heater that has developed a constant drip from the drain fitting. The fitting is plastic with hose threading on the end. I have attempted to tighten it (by hand), but there is no effect on the drip rate. I am afraid to really crank it closed and then break the plastic. Being that this is a 9 year old heater, is it worth trying to fix the valve/fitting or just replace the whole unit?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

You can take it out by drainning heater and turnning it clockwise, if you dreak it you have to cut it out, where hoping you dont, put a brass one in its place. Let me know how hard it is to take out.
