My wife and I bought an 8-year old house on a concrete slab (the usual construction these days). We want to be more environment-friendly by installing rainwater tanks. Apparently local councils now allow tanks to be plumbed to toilets and washing machines etc. However, is it a practical proposition to modify existing plumbing? Is it very expensive? Any advice appreciated.

One thing you cant connect the water to existing pipes on kind of cross connection. You have to run seperate water lines. You probably need a pump, it might cost more then it is worth, let me know.
