I had to replace the old sillcock on the front of the house. I bought a new one and had to a copper fitting that went from the 3/4 to 1/2. The sillcock had a threaded end that has a chrome like finish. It it possible to sweat a threaded copper end to this to make sure it doesn’t leak. I currently have pipe tape on the treads but it seems to be leaking slowing. Does this make any sense?

Take the readtape off the fitting and replace it with hemp along with a little graphite grease and the leak will stop. To solder chrome pipe into brass you have to sand off all the chrome at the point where you want to solder.

            readtape should read thread tape.
