I want to replace an old tub. The problem I am having is with the math. Getting something 5′ long into a 5′ wide space when across the angle you need 5′ 2″. Do I have too remove a wall, notch some studs? Just seeing if anyone knows any magic to this daunting task.

It’s a job and it helps to have all the right tools.

Strip the walls to the bare studs up a few feet all around the tub, remove the drain and tub waste also the tub spout.

Next, start lifting the backend of the tub up to a point where you can walk it out, you need musle and good body leverage for this one.

After you get the old one out the new fits in the same way the old one came out.
