Toilet handle has to be held down until bowl is completety empty or it stops flushing. I’ve tired shortening and lenghting the chain. Doesn’t help. What else to do?

Finally fixed the toilet! Couldn’t find Corky but I found Fluidmaster Flapper Drain Seat & Timing Cup. Worked like a charm! No more having to hold down the handle(which I also replaced) to flush. It’s the Timing Cup that does the the trick. It just delays the flapper closing so quickly. Took long enough, didn’t it? Thanks for your help.
