i am replacing the pull out handle for a tanadyne shower fixture. When I put the new moen handle on and screw it in, the shower will come on but the knob does not stop when I turn it left or right for the temperature. It rotates all the way around?

It sounds like the faucet does not have the correct rough-in. Somtimes you can tighted the screws on the face plate to give you enough room to make it work.
If the above does not work, they do make a spacer and longer screw when the rough-in is wrong, try a good plumbing repair shop for the parts.
