We are having a very loud whine/screaching noise, high pitched, when we turn on the water faucet in bathroom 1 or flush the toilet in bathroom 1 or 2. but when we turn the faucet on in bathroom 2, no noise. It lasts until the water is cut off, the toilet completely fills, or whenever the water has stopped. The only work that has been done since we moved in has been to adjust the water fill level on the toilet in bathroom 2, and install a new pressure reducer, as the old had gone bad. The new pressure reducer has been installed about 3 weeks without any noises until now.
Thanks for any advise you might have!

Sounds like you have a lot of press. try turnning the vlves down on the two toilets and lav. and see if it stops, does it do it on the HW?

yes, it will do it on the hot and cold. yesterday, however, after getting home from work, it wasn’t near as bad. the loud noise would only occur if toilet and faucet were running at the same time. if it was just one or the other you really couldn’t hear but a faint noise.

Check your toilet and see if flapper is leaking, put some egg dye in tank and see if it comes through into bowl, if it does it will leave water out and cause ballcock to fill, and if it has bad washer in it will viabrate, just a suggestion , did you check water press. and see what you have, you might try to turn it down and see if it stops the noise, let me know. You have a closed system and the PRV has a chance to build up pressure, some times you need aexpansion tank on the water heater. Did this happen when you had old PRV.
