the pipes in my house make a really loud noise(for about 5 seconds) after one of the toilets is flushed(it starts just as the tank is finished filling. what could be causing this? It does not happen with the other 2 toilets in the house.

Sounds like the fill valve in the toilet has debri in it or the diaphragm is old and in need of replacement.
Also, it could be the isolation valve at the wall leading to the toilet that has a loose washer.
Check out both of these to determine what it is…..and fix the problem.

Dunbar is right, but I would put in new ballcock because time you pay for new washer you could pay little more and get brand new ballcock.
