I recently had to replace my well pump and now my water softener doesn’t seem to be working. When I replaced the well pump, there was a lot of iron sediment that got stirred up. Is it likely that something is clogged on my softener? If so, how do I check to see if this is the problem?

I would take out the old salt and flush out softner the best you can and put in new salt, it could be that some of the dirt got in where it was not supose to get, if it still does not work then contact the co. and have them take a look at it.

Have you tried running the softener through a back wash cycle to clean it out??

I’ve regenerated the system several times. I thought backwashing a part of this cycle. If not, can you tell me how to backwash it? The softener is an Americana RS1500. My manual doesn’t say anything about backwashing and I can’t find any info on the net. Apparently this company has gone out of business.
