I’ve just installed a new electric water heater all my work was fine and leak free however water keeps coming up from around the in and out nipples. I removed those and wiped off the blue greasy sealant and applied tef tape, still leaking. I put a fair amount of torque on the fittings sufficient I feel to seat them. Where could the leak be coming from what should I look for?

Try applying 4-5 wraps of teflon tape and a coating of pipe dope with teflon. Be sure to wrap the teflon tape in the direction in which it wont unravel when you screw the nipple back in. Reinstall the nipples and give that a try.

          Good luck
