      Hi,

      I have an enquiry regarding Terrazzo flooring on the bathroom floor of a 1960’s standard brick home in Adelaide.

      The Terrazzo surface has become badly cracked during removal of an old bath and other renovations.

      Several questions;

      I assume that there will be a concrete slab with the Terrazzo material laid over that. Is that correct???

      What thickness would the Terrazzo material itself be and what thickness would the concrete slab be underneath???

      Is it possible to take up the Terrazzo material and leave the concrete slab to take a new concrete layer and new floor tiles????

      Am I spelling Terrazzo correctly???

      Many thanks in anticipation…

      Kev.

      Kev,
      around the time your home was built they laid a concrete slab first then poured the terrazo over the top of the concrete about 4cm thick, although on the rare occasion the whole floor was terrazo. If the floor was done as I first mentioned you can remove the terrazo and resurface the floor with tiles or whatever.
      Hope that this information is helpful

      If you have basement and ter. is on first fl. the use to put sleepers between the joist and fill with cinders and pour 2″ on coc. and ter. on that. If you dont have basement then you are coc. fl. Since the way you said it was cracking you could go either way.
