I just bought an American Standard Compact 1.6 and had it installed.
After flushing the toilet, the water level in the toilet bowl gradually disappears and leaves an awful stench. What could be the problem? A small unseen leak, the refill tube? HELP!

That is a kind of rare problem but I have seen it a few times where there was a defect in the bowl, a hole in the trap which allows the water to seep down the drain leaving a dry trap. Dry trap=odor. I would have it replaced.
