I HAVE A 15 YEAR OLD MAYTAG WASHER, MODEL A212, SERIES 04. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WASHER UNTIL RECENTLY. WHEN THE HOT-COLD BUTTON IS CHOSEN, APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AFTER THE WASHER IS TURNED ON, THE HOT WATER FLOW INTO THE WASHER SHUTS OFF TO BARELY A DRIBBLE. IN CHECKING THE HOT WATER HOSE, I FELT THE WATER FLOW COMING FROM THE FAUCET. I HAVE ALSO DISCONNECTED THE HOT WATER HOSE FROM THE FAUCET AND WASHER TO MAKE SURE THAT NO DEBRIS WAS BLOCKING THE FLOW OF HOT WATER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Disconnect the hose from the washer. Direct the hose into a 5 gallon bucket and turn the hot side on. If the flow is good you have an appliance problem. If the flow is bad the first place I’d check the hot water boiler drain.

Check the inlet pipe connections to the machine if they have gauze filters fitted it is likely that they are blocked – clean them out and you should be fine.
