I went on vacation and was told to turn off the pilot on my hot water heater. After I got home, I turned it back on and used my hot water. 5 minutes later I heard a noise and water is steadily coming out of the copper pipe. What happened and how do I fix it?

Is it the pop off valve on side of heater? Thats what it sounds like. If it is, go buy a new one and put it on. Make sure it is the same pressure reading. You have to turn off electricity and water.
