ParticipantYou could contact a resurfacing company who specialises in that kind of work – down here we have companies that use a kind of resin based finish that looks just like brand new when finished and it lasts for years.

ParticipantYou can scrub the tub surface down and re-coat it yourself using a spray epoxy. It’s messy, and you’ll need a respirator as the fumes are quite noxious, but the epoxy kits can be bought at any Lowe’s or HD. If time is taken and done right, it will look fine and last for quite awhile. If you’re not much into spraying epoxy and messy clean-ups, then look into Peter’s suggestion, but doing it yourself with the epoxy kits will save you alot of $$.
Edit;
By the way, the typical cost of recoating a tub with the DIY kits is around 30 to 50$ usually, and keep in mind it will take up to several days drying and curing time.» This message has been edited by AKPlumber on 09 December 2004
