        Help, My hot water heater is a Reliance 606 and it has gone through 2 lower and 1 upper element in the last year. They have all been totally corroded through. Is it the lime? Maybe I should install a water softner? anyhelp would be appreciated..I would think an element should last for years…Thanks!

          Pull the anode rod out and see if you need a replacement rod.

          Probably so.

            um…is the anode rod the element?

              No.

              Go to http://www.waterheaterrescue.com and look under the category “Anode Rods”
