I have a sewage pump for the basement shower & bath that has stopped working. Area around the tank is wet. I would like to do the job myself. Researched the flotec 1/2hp sewage pump for replacement of the existing pump. Before I start, are there any procedural manuals available for this job, or is it simply disconnecting the pipes, removing the lid, and swaping the pumps out. Any other sugggestions/advice would be most helpful.

      Thanks

Replace the check valve which should be located in close vicinity of the pump discharge.

Also, drill a hole within 6″ of the discharge of the pump head. This will prevent airlock.

      Dunbar, Thank you.

To confirm; Are you suggesting to replace the ck valve in combination with a new sewage pump? or just replace the ck valve 1st?

If the pump needs replacing, what’s the best choice for performance & durability, 4/10hp or 1/2 hp? price variance is $165 vs $250. Vertical lift is roughly8 feet, and the run is another 10 ft. to the main line.

More than likely the pump is broken from age possibly.

When you pull the pump, look to see if the impeller is jammed from a foreign object or not.

This might be the cause for its failure.

If so, then you will have to thoroughly clean the pump pit to keep the same situation from reoccurring.

I only use Zoeller products when it comes to sewage ejector pumps; a good sewage ejector pump from them runs about $200.
