Yesterday we did attach a hose to the wh (gas) and let it run into the yard. This did keep it from leaking around the base of the wh. It drained all yesterday afternoon and through the night and is still draining now. Does it take this long to drain a wh? Also, when the hose ws attached, the cold water worked in the sinks, but the showers did not? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Plumber comes tomorrow!!

Do you have main water heater valve off, also make sure all your hot water faucets are off, sounds like one is on. If it is still running turn off water heater drain and see what it does. Your shower probably has a valve that has to have H&C press. on it to work.
