Building a new house and wish to fit mixer taps in showers. Plumber and builder both claim mixers cause excessive water hammer and have advised against their use. Is this so and if so how is it best to overcome problem?

Never heard of mixer taps in house shower. We put them in schools for shower rooms and also used shower valve. Try using air hammers on them if you use them. Of course when we installed them they might be 50 or 75 ‘ away from shower valves, try putting them as far from sh. valve as you can.
