The current set up has a 1inch pipe all around the basement with the baseboards feeding off. I want to change it to a “in out” configuration with 3/4inch because the 1inch pipe hangs down about 12inches and I want to refinish the basement. Two of the baseboards have 1/2 inch pipe off the baseboard ( about 12-14inches long)and the other two have 3/4. Do I need to change the 1/2 inch to 3/4inch or can I leave it? What’s the impact if I leave the 1/2 inch. Thanks

It sounds like you have a 1″ main around the basement and you want to change it to 3/4 and go up through floor to each rad. and drop back down, well it dont work that way, you have a 1 pipe system that makes a loop and returns to boiler. Why dont you cut new pipes to Rad.and make them shorter are make a soufit around pipes that is what I did in my basement. Dont mess with heating unless you know what you are doing.
