Could someone please tell me as to the usage of P and S traps used in the United States. I seem to have conflicting data and would appreciate if someone could enlighten me as to the percentage basis for the P and S trap toilet pipes.

The S traps drains through the floor and are made with vent and without vent. The P trap drains into the wall inlet. We use P traps for fl. drs. and all kinds of drains.

The P taps is the only one that is legal in our code for all fix. In rual counties they use S traps for fix. where there is no code. Sinks, lav, etc.

If your are asking about about traps in the differn’t types toilet bowls there are four basic designs.
Washdown, Siphon Jet, Reverse Trap and Blowout type traps.
