My freezeproof outdoor faucet is leaking. It is the type that has a handle and connects to the water supply about 3′ in the ground. I need info on how to disassembel and repair leak. You may reach me by email @ [email protected]

You are describing a Bury Hydrant.

Put one wrench on the vertical galvanized pipe and one on the handle attachment that threads onto galvanized pipe.

When your removing this, once it unscrews, there will be a long rod attached to the handle.

At the bottom of this rod, there will be a replaceable washer or leather that needs replaced to stop the leaks.

All depends on the age of the bury hydrant.

Before you try that I suggest you turn off the water and relieve the water pressure. Otherwise the only way you get it off is to break it off.
