does anybody have a rough idea of how much it would cost to hire someone to do blown-in insulation for one wall–it’s probably 9×9, and maybe 1ft thick (or even less)…the few local places I’ve called said it sounds like too small a job, and 2 told me they have employees who do small jobs like that on the side, but I wasn’t sure how much I should expect to pay for something like that.

You might check out that foam insl. they use, in fact if you were eagar to try you could get some of the can stuff and drill a little hole in wall and shoot it in your self, are try some of that granual insl. and go in attic and drill holes in top plate and pour it in yourself.

I would say they would charge you a days pay at least for the 2. Also depends on what you get payed in that part of country. Here our Insl. get about $25.00 an hr.
