old house with low water pressure and flow

I would be very gratefull if anyone could give any advice on products available to overcome the problem of low water pressure which will not run a combi boiler
the local water authority have quoted silly money to replace main
Another local contractor has said that he thinks that there are suction pumps available to connect into the main to increase flow or possibly some kind of accumulater
any information would be very helpfull
