        hi all. I need to replace a rheem hot water cylinder, my question is do I need a plumber or can the average guy install it? With a bit of know how. Any feed back welcome Thanx

          Are we talking electric or gas here???

          Anyways to comply with the manufacturers warranty it should be fitted by a suitably qualified Plumber.

            I agree. Water Heaters, whether gas or electric, are one of the most dangerous plumbing situations involved in a home, and if installed wrong or improper, bad things can result.
