My hot water heater has sounded like it has water running through it all the time…like it is constantly filling up. NOW it started leaking up at the shut off valve that comes out of the wall. Lucky me got to go out in the rain at 3:30am to shut the water off to the house….where is a man when i need one??? PLEASE HELP! Do I just need to change out the shut off valve or is the heater itself possibly bad????

Is water surfacing around the water heater itself?

If not…….a hot side water line is open somewhere if that is the case.

In order for water to pass through heater, it has to have a way out of tank,,,,,with cold water going through it to cause this.

Post back to tell us what are all the symptoms.

Sounds like it is your packing nut on valve leaking, sure you havent a toilet running and sounds can be heard at water Heater, does any of yor pipes go under ground, if so it might be leaking there.
