The pipes are attached to a an old and valuable fixture with pipe dope that is old and hard. The pipe doesn’t come off the fixture with reasonable force. How can I get the pipe off the fixture without destroying it? Solvents like Goof Off? Heat? Something else?

        Thanks!

What kind of fix. is it. Lav. have 1/4″ tailpieces that go with gal pipe, sinks have a brass union coupling on them, dont know what you got but I would take a hacksaw and cut the gal. pipe and take fix. down and go from ther, always use to pipe wrenchs on gal. pipe one to pull and other to hold back, so you dont wreck the faucet.
