I’ve been told that if I use Oatley’s plumbers putty to install my drain in my acrylic tub that it will discolor or stain the acrylic. Is this true? If so, can anyone suggest what type of silicone sealant I should use because all the ones I’ve found say “do not use in submerged applications”?

Use Plumbers puddy and will have no trouble, I used it all my life.

If you are worried get in touch with MGF. and ask them.

Most instructions will tell you what to use. Some acrylic tubs will stain from the use of putty.I use GE clear silicone.Read instruction carefully, cause most say the warranty is void if wrong sealant is used.

Yup, we use neutral cure silocone for all bath, sink and shower waste connections and have none leak or stain to date.
