I have an Envi-Ro-Temp 50 gallon water heater that makes a noise like a nut being tightened too much after the toilet is flushed or the washing machine is running. I released the pressure valve for a while but that did nothing. Will draining the tank help? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you have PRV on service it could be making that noise. Turn off CW at heater and open hw to releive pressure and then flush toilet and see if it makes a noise, if not it is something else like ballcock are PRV. valve.
