The Simpson washing machine Model 146 we use is putting some sort of grey fluff residue on our clothes during the wash. It seems like maybe the filter isn’t working? I have had the repairman out twice to look at the problem and he keeps telling me its the soap residue. I have followed his instructions and washed out the machine with borax and hot water, and am still having this problem. I bought the machine second hand and am wondering if maybe I am missing some part of the filter or something?

Would make things a whole lot easier to undertsnad if you told us if you are washing in cold or hot water.
The symptoms you have indicated are commonplace when washing is done with cold water and using the incorrect detergents.
Need to know more – but not as much as how many parts of shorts you wash at a time!!!!!!!!!!!
