After moving into our home last summer, we found that we had to always run the cold water faucets for quite a while to run out the (very!) hot water. We initially thought there was a problem with the hot/cold water hook-ups, but after not having any problems over the winter but with the same thing occuring this summer, I have come to the conclusion that it is because the water is heating up in the pipes which are in the attic (the house is on a slab). We have mild winters here and very hot summers. The house had copper re-piping completed a few years ago. Is there anything inexpensive that we can do to correct this problem during the summer months?

If it is hot in summer, surprised it dont freeze in winter. All you can do is put heavy insulation on the pipes.
