This problem is about the slot in the cast iron flange that holds the fastener bolt that secures the toilet to floor. The outside of the flange has broken off, making it incapable of holding the bolt, thereby not being able to secure the toilet on one side. The cast iron (CI) flange is attached to the CI drain pipe with lead. Is there a flange cover that can be placed on top of existing CI flange so I won’t have to disturb existing arrangment of leaded-on connection? This is on a ceramic tile floor with a crawl space. If no adaptor cap is available, would anyone suggest installing a bolt through the tile and mud base, to anchor it in the bottom wood sub-floor? What options do I have?
