I have a toilet which rocks from front to back, but not from side to side. It is held rather securely with the hold down bolts, and I am afraid to tighten them any more, for fear of cracking the porcelin. The toilet is on rather old linoleum, wooden sub floor, with a newer acrylic floor surrounding the base. Should I shim the floor underneath the toilet, or what is the best way to secure it? Any suggestions?
        Thanks,
        Mike Herbert

Sounds like your bowl has been leaking and the floor in back is sunken down, you can buy PVC shims at store for that purpose but I think it has went to far now so take up bowl and replce wood and fins. the floor and reset bowl. Buy some shims anyway you might need them later.
