I am installing a pedestal sink in a 1950’s older home. How do I go about connecting my new chrome p/trap and drain to the existing copper coupling sticking out of the wall? The old drain is soldered in to this coupling. I need to make everything look good and fit behind a deep escutcheon.

        Thanks

Cut trap to fit. File off chrome about 1″ from end tin it and melt the old piece out and solder in new piece. Thats not a coupling we call it a trap adapter, you can take that one off by melting it loose and get Female sweat 1-1/4″ slip joint ad. and slide trap right in if your code allows them.
