I live in a condo that was built in 1999. I have never had scalding hot water as long as I have lived here. I did manage to turn the temperature setting to very hot which did nothing. I can get very hot water from the sinks but the showers are only luke warm and no hot water from the washing machines either???The water heater is an A.O. Smith Power Shot…if that helps? Like I said was installed in 1999. I am sick of luke warm showers…HELP.

Sounds like you have a tempering/mixing valve fitted controlling the maximum temperature to the areas that you are currently getting luke warm water too. Hire the services of a registered Plumber to check it all out for you.
It is also possible you may have a faulty faucet causing the mixing of both hot and cold water as well.
As I said have it checked out to be sure.
