pilot light on gas heater

        My hot water heater, gas, does not keep the pilot light lit and when I finally do get it lighted, I cannot turn on the burner to heat my water. any suggestions?

          Sounds like the thermocouple needs replaced.

            thank yu but what is a theromcouple and where is it found on the heater?
